Making an Insurance Claim for your Roof

Published by Andrew Schmidt

It’s the first day of summer, and we all know summer is the time for strong and severe storms. Wind, rain and hail can cause a lot of damage to our property, and especially vulnerable is the roof. To fix the damage quickly, you may need to make an insurance claim. As much of an annoyance as it is, you will be happier down the road with the following steps.

Make sure you’re covered. There should be a clause in the contract with your insurance company that discusses the damage caused to your property.

Make the claim. Call the insurance company to start the claim process. They will schedule a time to send someone to your property in order to survey the damage and come up with a value.

Call your contractor. Showalter will send a representative to give an inspection and estimate of the damage and necessary repair.

Negotiations. We will communicate with your insurance provider to make sure they will cover the roofing repair costs.

The work begins. Once an agreement is reached we can schedule the job for a date that is convenient for you.

Finishing up. When the work is finished we will notify the insurance company who will write a check to both you and us. This is to ensure you are involved in each step of the process and know the work was paid for.
